It took longer than I would have liked, but I'm finally home from the hospital.

You may now call me the Bionic Fogey.

The Dow Jones broke 11,000 on Wednesday.

I have a very happy portfolio.

I've been out of touch with the outside world. Other matters have been occupying me, and I haven't bothered to pick up a newspaper in nearly a month. So for the past couple days, I've been spending more time on my computer than usual trying to catch up.

I just found out that Stanley Kubrick died. Makes me a little sad, I really enjoyed his films.

There was a bombing today. I am told that the so-called "angels" here in Cairo are to blame.

Likewise, that the poisoning of the water a few months ago, which killed a great number of people here, was also their doing.

Why are you people doing this? What have you to gain from such destruction? I refuse to believe that any supernatural power could be so arbitrary and cruel in its dispensation of such twisted justice.

More than just Cairo, though -- why are any of us doing this? I can't believe that God or Fate or whatever brought this about would set up such an elaborate war. If it were to be the end of the human race, why hasn't it just ended? Why did that same force select other people and give them the power to oppose their almighty decree? It just doesn't add up!

The conflict isn't behind our powers, or vice versa. I may be new to this community, but I've done my research: each and every one of you has some sort of ability beyond that of normal humans. Fate did not bestow these powers on us; or if it did, it was for some other purpose. But I know that many of us manifested powers long ago. I realized my own about 20 years ago. So these powers are at best tenuously related to the current situation.

As for the so-called Dreamseers: I'm sure at least one other person here is familiar with Jung and his idea of a collective unconscious. People have similar dreams the world over, and it's not unheard of for people to share the exact same dream. Even I experienced it once. I will believe that the Dreamseers are psychically powerful, but it's the rest of you that are bringing their "visions" to fruition, not Fate!

And of all times, why now? The human race as a whole has come so far -- the U.S.S.R. has collapsed, Apartheid has ended in South Africa...admittedly, we still have a ways to go, but we're going in the right direction. I doubt if the world will ever be free of people who will do anything to get what they want...there will always be terrorists and people with selfish and cruel ambitions. But God gave us free will so that we may check ourselves. A few bad apples do not spoil the barrel, as the saying goes, and bad people have always been a minority in the world; a truly caring God would know this. He would not condemn all His children for the crimes of a few.

If this were happening...back then...I would understand completely, and commit myself fully towards that end. But not now. If there is any justice in this universe, not now.

The other day, I received an invitation to this -- what do you call it...weblog? I'm not sure what's going on here, nor am I terribly familiar with LiveJournal, but I'm sure that will all become apparent soon enough.

Hello, world.
